Front & Finish® Flyball Title Directory
Flyball races involve two teams of four dogs each, racing side-by-side over a 51 foot course. Each dog must run in relay fashion down the jumps, trigger a flyball box to release a ball, retrieve the ball, and return over the jumps. The next dog cannot start its run until the previous dog has returned over all four jumps and reached the start/finish line. The first team to have all four dogs finish wins the heat (round). Typically, teams compete in three to five heats. The team that wins the most heats wins the event! Based on run times, teams earn points toward individual titles. Currently, flyball titling opportunities are available through North American Flyball Association (NAFA) and United Flyball League (U-FLI).
NORTH AMERICAN FLYBALL ASSOCIATION (NAFA)
NAFA was formed in the early 1980s and became the worldwide authority on flyball. It is the oldest and most established flyball registry and sanctioning organization. NAFA titles are based on points earned in flyball competitions sponsored by over 900 NAFA-affiliated clubs. The number of points awarded depends on a team’s running times. Each year, NAFA sponsors the North American Flyball Championships. For more information, contact NAFA at www.nafa.org; 1333 West Devon Avenue, #512, Chicago, Illinois 60660; (800) 318-6312; or flyball@flyball.org.

UNITED FLYBALL LEAGUE INTERNATIONAL (U-FLI)
U-FLI was founded in November 2004 as an alternative sanctioning and titling organization for flyball enthusiasts. Its primary objectives have been to introduce innovation to the sport, and to refocus flyball as a “fun, family-friendly, dog sport.” Toward that end, U-FLI has developed a Junior Handler award program for youths under age 18, along with several competition divisions, including, Standard, Variety (four different breeds), Singles, and Pairs. All dogs jump from 6 – 12 inches. U-FLI titles are point-based. The number of points earned in a flyball heat depends on a team’s running time. Winning teams also earn bonus points. U-FLI also offers an annual championship tournament. For more information, contact U-FLI at http://www.u-fli.com; PMB 169, 4132 South Rainbow Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89103; or (702) 527-UFLI (8354).
